Hello Gigantic fans!
We’re excited to reveal that Ranked Mode has arrived in Gigantic: Rampage Edition and its Pre-Season is live right now on PC! This mode is especially for those of you who want to scratch their competitive itch, rise through the ranks, and earn unique rewards in the process. Read on for all the details about Ranked Mode and see what’s in store for pre-Season.
Gigantic: Rampage Edition Ranked Mode 101
Ranked Mode in a nutshell
All players that have reached profile level 20 can participate in Ranked matches, which use the traditional Clash game mode. In order to get your initial rank, five placement matches have to be played. Depending on the outcome of these matches, you’ll be awarded a Matchmaking Rating (MMR), which ultimately defines your global rank in the running Season. Wins and losses over the course of a Ranked Mode Season will affect your MMR and thus your rank. Your highest rank achieved throughout a season will define the rewards you will receive once the season ends.
Season System & Pre-Season
Ranked Mode will come with a seasonal system, with each season running for approximately three months. You can follow your own progression, and that of your friends and foes, on a leaderboard. Reaching different ranks throughout the course of a season does not only give you bragging rights in the community, but it also comes with exclusive rewards for each season. Watch this space for details when these seasons draw closer!
We’re kicking off Ranked Mode today with a Pre-Season on PC – Ranked Mode on Xbox and PlayStation will be ready at a later date*. This is a much shorter version of the regular seasons, a warm-up if you will. We want to use this Pre-Season to make sure that everything works as intended and to get your feedback in case any concerns or issues come up. That being said, there is still a reward up for grabs: All players that reach Bronze rank and up in Pre-Season will gain the special in-game title “Vanguard”!
Keep an eye on our social channels and Discord for an announcement as we near the end of Pre-Season!
*Note: With Pre-Season and Ranked not available currently on consoles, if you try to join a Ranked match with a PC player, an error message will occur and the match will not begin. You’ll be able to jump into matches once Pre-Season is available on consoles.
MMR and Ranks
Your MMR, based on the TrueSkill System, is primarily calculated by winning and losing Ranked matches, adding to or deducting points from your overall score after each match. Your overall MMR defines your current rank as a season progresses. These ranks are:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Guardian
- Gigantic Guardian
While the Bronze, Silver, and Gold ranks each have five different tiers (e.g. “Silver IV”), Platinum will have three and the remaining only one. You will be notified when your next Ranked match is a promotion or demotion match. Do you have what it takes to reach Diamond rank and beyond?
If you do: Hell Yeah! But that also means you cannot rest on your laurels for too long. Starting with Diamond, your rank will decay if you haven’t played any Ranked matches for a certain time. When that happens, you will be put into the “Rank Decay” state where a number of placement matches will determine your rank again. With each match you play in Diamond and above, you can accumulate “Banked Days” (up to 30 in Diamond, up to 10 in Guardian) that will prevent you from falling into High Rank Placement State.
Matchmaking
Like the regular Rush and Clash modes, matchmaking in Ranked will use MMR to create a balanced environment, prioritizing finding players of a similar rank. If necessary, the search parameters will be expanded, including a higher rank difference and expanding the matchmaking region.
You’ll be able to queue for Ranked matches both as solo players and in parties. Some matchmaking rules apply here:
- Matchmaking will try to match solo players with other solo players first.
- Matchmaking will try to match parties with other parties first.
- Parties can only queue for Ranked matches if their members are within six ranks of each other. The exception to this rule is a full party of five players.
Please play Ranked matches with fair play in mind. If you leave a match before it ends, and you fail to re-connect within a certain time, a penalty will be given out. Accumulating penalty points will ultimately lead to a temporary ban from Ranked Mode. Penalty points do decline and reset for players if no penalties have been accumulated after a certain amount of time
We cannot wait for you all to dip your feet in Ranked Mode matches as our Pre-Season kicks off right now. As always, we’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions over on Discord, so that we can make it the best possible experience for everyone. Your support since launching Gigantic: Rampage Edition has been invaluable, and we’d like to thank you for your ongoing loyalty. Good luck, have fun – and see you on the airship!
