What’s New in Season 4?
The Season 4 roadmap brings a slew of new additions, including three new weapons:
- FFAR Assault Rifle
- LC10 Submachine Gun
- Essex Model 07 Marksman Rifle
These weapons offer players fresh tactical options and are expected to influence loadout strategies, particularly in Warzone’s evolving meta.
Verdansk Gets a Major Makeover
Warzone’s iconic Verdansk map receives a significant update with the introduction of The Overlook, a massive skyscraper under construction in the Downtown area. This new point of interest adds vertical gameplay layers with:
- Ziplines inside the building for quick ascents and descents
- Cranes around the building’s exterior for additional tactical movement
Vertical ziplines have also been added throughout Downtown, offering players new routes for quick escapes or fast repositioning during combat.
Fringe Map Returns to Multiplayer
A fan-favorite map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Fringe, is making a comeback in Black Ops 6 multiplayer. This return could see Fringe featured in upcoming major esports events such as the Black Ops 6 Championship Weekend and the Esports World Cup, bringing a nostalgic yet strategic battlefield back to competitive play.
How Will Season 4 Impact Esports?
The new weapons will not affect the Call of Duty League (CDL) due to its strict ruleset, but they will have a significant impact on Warzone’s competitive scene. Warzone’s Ranked mode and tournaments exclusively use Black Ops 6 weapons, so the addition of the FFAR, LC10, and Essex Model 07 is expected to shake up the current meta.
Season 4 also introduces two variants of Warzone Ranked Play:
- Ranked Play Battle Royale (existing)
- Ranked Play Resurgence (new)
Ranked Play Resurgence will run alongside the main mode with its own skill division, offering fresh competitive challenges for players.
What’s Next for Competitive Call of Duty?
Along with weapon balancing changes expected in Season 4, these updates will push professional players to rethink their strategies and loadouts, keeping the competitive scene fresh and engaging.
The evolving gameplay environment, combined with the return of classic maps and new mobility options, ensures that Call of Duty esports remains dynamic and exciting through 2025.
Season 4 of Black Ops 6 and Warzone promises thrilling gameplay updates, strategic depth, and a rejuvenated competitive scene — making it a season no fan or pro player will want to miss.
