Miami Heretics: The Team to Beat
Miami Heretics enter Major 4 riding a wave of momentum. The all-Spanish roster has dominated the online qualifiers with a flawless 5-0 record and secured a top-four finish at Major 2. Since March, the addition of Diego ‘SupeR’ Escudero has strengthened their lineup, allowing them to compete confidently against North America’s elite teams.
With the maximum 100 CDL Points at stake for the event winner, Miami is on the brink of locking in a Championship Weekend berth. If they keep up their winning form, they will be a top contender for the CDL’s biggest prize.
The Midfield Battle Intensifies
While Miami looks dominant, the fight for Championship Weekend qualification remains tight among several teams. Just 110 CDL Points separate Carolina Royal Ravens, Boston Breach, OpTic Texas, Minnesota Rokkr, and Cloud9 New York — all still vying for their spot in the season-ending tournament.
The Carolina Royal Ravens have struggled recently, managing only one win in five qualifier matches, putting their chances at risk despite a strong start to the season. Meanwhile, Boston Breach has gained ground with solid performances, including consecutive top-six finishes in Major 2 and Major 3. Their 2-3 qualifier record netted them 20 points but left them just shy of a winner’s bracket spot.
OpTic Texas: A Resurgent Green Wall
OpTic Texas, a fan-favourite franchise and last year’s CDL Champions, have had a rocky season and currently sit eighth in the standings. However, hope is renewed with the addition of Mason ‘Mercules’ Ramsey in early May. His arrival has coincided with a positive momentum shift, including three qualifier wins against strong teams such as Toronto Ultra and Vancouver Surge.
Starting Major 4 as the third seed, OpTic Texas will open against Toronto Ultra, a matchup filled with extra stakes since Mercules previously played for Toronto. A victory here would almost guarantee OpTic’s spot at Champs, while a loss could mean a difficult path ahead.
What to Expect at DreamHack Dallas
Major 4 will be the last CDL event played in a double-elimination bracket, with best-of-five matches throughout, culminating in a best-of-seven Grand Final to crown the champion. The intensity is high as teams fight for every point and every win, knowing the Championship Weekend is on the line.
For fans who cannot attend DreamHack Dallas in person, the entire event will be broadcast live on YouTube, ensuring everyone can witness the high-stakes battles unfold.
The stage is set for a dramatic Major 4 in the Call of Duty League, with Miami Heretics aiming to cement their dominance and OpTic Texas striving to reclaim their former glory. Meanwhile, the battle for Championship Weekend spots remains wide open, promising electrifying matches and intense competition.
