The Format of LTA North Split 2 2025
Unlike Split 1, LTA North Split 2 will feature a revamped format with no inter-conference competition. Instead, the season will be divided into three distinct phases: Positioning Phase, Group Stage, and Playoffs.
- Positioning Phase (April 5th-20th): A single round-robin format with best-of-one matches, where teams will fight for their positions going forward.
- Group Stage (April 26th-May 18th): Best-of-three matches will be played under the Fearless Draft format, which will help determine the top six teams advancing to the playoffs.
- Playoffs (May 24th-June 15th): A double-elimination format, with best-of-five matches to crown the champions of LTA North Split 2.
The new format promises to give fans a more in-depth look at the teams’ performances, making the road to the playoffs even more thrilling.
Team Liquid’s Point to Prove
After a rollercoaster start to the season, Team Liquid has plenty to prove in Split 2. The team showed some promise in Split 1, even winning the Cross Conference tournament, but was shockingly eliminated early from First Stand 2025. Sean ‘Yeon’ Sung commented that their performance at First Stand was not representative of the team’s true potential, and the team is determined to bounce back.
Team Liquid will get a chance to prove themselves early in Split 2, as they face tough contenders like FlyQuest and 100 Thieves in the opening week. The stakes are high for Team Liquid, as they need to perform well in Split 2 to qualify for international events like the EWC and MSI.
100 Thieves: Ready for Revenge
100 Thieves, the inaugural winners of LTA North’s first split, have a reputation to uphold. Despite losing the first-ever LTA Cross Conference to Team Liquid, 100T’s performance in the finals of LTA North Split 1 proved they were one of the top teams in the region. With veterans like Victor ‘FBI’ Huang and Kim ‘River’ Dong-woo leading the charge, 100 Thieves is considered one of the favorites to win the title once again.
After Team Liquid’s underwhelming performance at First Stand, 100 Thieves may be looking to make a statement early on and claim the title of LTA North’s best team. The positioning phase on April 6th will be their first opportunity to show their dominance.
A Familiar Roster, but Surprises Could Be in Store
One of the most notable aspects of LTA North Split 2 is that the roster line-ups for most teams have remained the same. While it’s not uncommon for esports organizations to make roster changes, many teams are choosing to stick with their current line-ups this split. This decision is likely due to the limited number of competitive games in Split 1, giving teams more time to practice together.
This stability could lead to more consistent performances, but it also opens the door for surprise contenders to emerge. Teams like FlyQuest, who have had longer experience in the tournament, may dominate, but other squads that were eliminated early in Split 1 have had more time to hone their strategies and improve.
