The reigning MSI champions continue their dominant run with a clean 2–0 sweep over Top Esports in Beijing.
The 2025 League of Legends World Championship continues to deliver fireworks — and Gen.G Esports just made another statement win. The defending MSI champions punched their ticket to the Knockout Stage after a convincing 2–0 victory over Top Esports (TES) at the JD Esports Center in Beijing.
This series wasn’t just about progression — it was a clash between old teammates turned rivals. TES’s Bai “369” Jiahao and Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok faced off against their former JD Gaming partner, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk, who looked completely unstoppable across both games.

Game 1: Canyon’s Domination Sets the Tone
Right from the start, Gen.G’s jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu put on a masterclass in map control and objective timing. His impact was undeniable — finishing the series opener with an impressive 9/3/27 KDA and constantly punishing TES for every small misstep.
Although Top Esports managed to grab first blood and the early dragon, it was all Gen.G from there. A disastrous fight around the grubs completely swung the momentum, allowing the Korean powerhouse to snowball a 10,000 gold lead before the 10-minute mark.
From that point, TES was suffocated out of the game. Gen.G systematically dismantled them across all lanes, claiming three drakes, Atakhan, and near-total map control. The game ended in under 25 minutes — a brutal demonstration of efficiency and dominance.
Game 2: Chovy’s Yone Outshines All
If Game 1 was Canyon’s playground, Game 2 belonged to Chovy. Despite facing a challenging mid-lane matchup, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon drew first blood and controlled the tempo from there.
Both teams opted for scaling-heavy drafts, slowing down the early game, but TES once again failed to capitalize on their brief power window. Instead of securing a free dragon, they walked straight into a perfectly executed Gen.G collapse that wiped them clean around the pit.
By the mid-game, Gen.G was back in full control. Even after a brief setback — when Kim “Kiin” Ki-in was caught out, giving TES a valuable shutdown — the LCK team never truly lost momentum.
Once Chovy hit his first item spike on Yone, the tides turned completely. Every skirmish started to go Gen.G’s way, and a clean Atakhan and Baron fight sealed the fate of TES. Within minutes, Gen.G destroyed the LPL hopefuls’ Nexus, ending the series with authority.
Gen.G Marches Forward — TES Faces Do-or-Die
With this win, Gen.G becomes one of the first teams to qualify for the Worlds 2025 Knockout Stage, continuing their quest to reclaim the Summoner’s Cup after their strong MSI showing earlier this year.
For Top Esports, the pressure is now immense. Sitting at 2–2 in the Swiss Stage, they must win their final best-of-three on October 25th to stay in the tournament.
Tomorrow’s schedule promises even more excitement — Bilibili Gaming vs. Keyd Stars will kick off the day, followed by 100 Thieves vs. defending Worlds champions T1.
Final Thoughts
Gen.G’s message is loud and clear: the LCK giants aren’t just here to participate — they’re here to dominate. With Canyon and Chovy in peak form and Ruler looking as sharp as ever, this roster might be one of the most balanced and lethal lineups in recent Worlds history.
If their current trajectory continues, Gen.G could very well be the team to beat all the way to the Finals.
But for now, the spotlight turns to Top Esports — can they recover from this crushing loss and survive one more round?
Worlds 2025 drama is just heating up.
